JEDDAH, June 16 — The general secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the opening of an embassy by the so-called Somaliland in occupied Jerusalem, the Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported.
The general secretariat said the move was illegal and constituted a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations and relevant UN resolutions.
It also reiterated that Israel, as the occupying power, has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem, and that all decisions and measures aimed at altering the city’s political, legal or demographic status are null and void under international law.
The general secretariat reaffirmed its full solidarity with Somalia and its unwavering support for the country’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It also called on the international community to take a firm stance against what it described as the illegal move and to act to counter it.
