KUALA LUMPUR: The National Tech Association of Malaysia (Pikom) has honoured 52 of the country’s most innovative technology players at its Digital Excellence Awards (PDEA) 2025 gala dinner tonight.

The ceremony, held at Sunway Resort Hotel and officiated by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, saw the number of winners jump from 34 last year, reflecting strength and maturity in the industry.

Launched in its refreshed format in 2024, PDEA has become a benchmark platform for recognising companies and leaders shaping Malaysia’s digital economy.

Gobind, in his address, called on industry players to drive responsible innovation while building talent and enhancing digital resilience.

He noted that the award recipients spanning fields such as cybersecurity, cloud, digital infrastructure and start-ups, reflect the principle that excellence is not a choice but a responsibility.

“As we chart the course ahead, let us continue to invest in talent, secure our digital frontiers, and innovate responsibly with artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

“And above all, let us ensure the benefits of digitalisation uplift every Malaysian, in every community. No one should ever be left behind in our digital quest,” he added.

Pikom chairman Alex Liew said the awards are also a springboard for local players to compete on regional and global stages.

“Our winners tonight can expect to be nominated further in prestigious regional and global awards. This is the standard of excellence that Pikom wants to showcase to the world,” he said in his speech.

Liew said the awards follow a stringent process, with each nomination thoroughly reviewed, verified by auditors, and assessed by an independent panel of judges.

He added that new categories were introduced and existing ones refined this year to capture the growing diversity of Malaysia’s digital economy, resulting in a record 52 winners — 46 in corporate categories and six in individual awards.(NST)
