KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — French rider Joris Delbove was crowned the overall champion of the 2025 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) despite finishing 17th in the final 180.2-kilometre (km) stage from Tangkak to Kuala Lumpur which ended at Petronas Twin Towers on Sunday.
Delbove, 25, from the Totalenergies team dominated the Green Jersey from the fifth to eighth stages to record an overall time of 27:17:38 seconds (s).
He edged out his closest challengers Ander Halland Johannessen of Uno-X-Mobility who was three seconds behind and Tudor Pro Cycling Team rider (7 seconds) in second and third place respectively.
“I will treasure the wonderful memories I’ve made here in Malaysia and at Le Tour de Langkawi. It has truly been an amazing experience, the country’s beauty and scenery are absolutely breathtaking, and at the same time, the racing has been incredibly intense.
“So, this victory means a lot to me, and I’m really happy,” said Delbove when met after the race.
Earlier, XDS Astana rider Aaron Gate won the final stage of LTdL 2025 when he crossed the finish line with a time of 3:50:05 seconds followed by Aivaras Mikutis from Tudor Pro Cycling Team with the same time while Nil Gimeno of Equipo Kern Pharma in third place was only seven seconds apart.
The Orange Jersey (King of Sprint) in this edition was won by Uno X Mobility rider Erlend Blikra who collected 63 points, followed by De Kleijn (51) and Manuel Penalver Aniorte of Team Polti VisitMalta (43).
The Polka Dot Jersey was won by Patrick Eddy of Team Picnic PostNL after collecting 15 points shared with Burgos Burpellet BH rider Jambaljamts Sainbayar, while the third place went to Gimeno (13).
Meanwhile, the white jersey as the best Asian rider went to Nicolya Vinoukorov from XDS Astana (27:17:49s), followed by Thailand Continental Cycling rider Thanakhan Chaiyasombat (27:19:21s) with Sainbayar in third place (27:19:44s).
The best overall team went to Team Polti VisitMalta (81:53:46s), followed by Unibet Tietema Rockets (81:54:39s) and Burgos Burpellet BH (81:55:28s) in third place.
Meanwhile, the best Asian team went to Nusantara BYC team (82:29:24s) followed by Aisan Racing Team (82:29:33s) while third place was won by Thailand Continental Cycling Team (82:31:03s).
National rider Tsen Ren Bao from the St George team became the best Malaysian rider in this edition when he finished 34th overall.
