AKPS Foils Attempt to Smuggle 45 Animal Horns at LTAPP

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 22 – The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) foiled an attempt to smuggle 45 units of wildlife goods suspected to be animal horns estimated to be worth RM5,000 at Penang International Airport (LTAPP) in Bayan Lepas on Thursday.

AKPS in a statement today announced that the goods were found following an inspection of the luggage of an Indonesian male passenger who arrived from Guangzhou, China on a China Southern flight.

“The 57-year-old man was found to be carrying suspected wildlife goods without a permit or valid document under Section 68(1)(b) of Act 716,” according to the statement.

All 45 units of suspected animal horns were then seized and handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) for further investigation.
