PUTRAJAYA, Aug 27 — The 2026 National Day Prime Minister’s Address Ceremony scheduled to take place this Sunday (August 30) will be moved from Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), here following the current haze conditions.
The National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 Celebration Working Committee, Ministry of Communications, in a statement today announced that the decision was made as an adjustment measure taking into account current developments, particularly to ensure the safety, health and comfort of guests and the public, in addition to ensuring the smooth implementation of the ceremony.
“The relocation of the venue does not affect the content and spirit of the 2026 National Day celebration, but is a responsible step to ensure that the event can be held in a more controlled and comfortable environment.
“The government will continue to monitor the haze situation and the development of air quality from time to time,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the statement informed that decisions regarding the implementation of the parade in conjunction with the 2026 National Day celebration will be determined based on an assessment of the current situation as well as advice and views from the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Department of Environment and the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
“The public is advised to always be aware of the latest haze situation and obtain information and health advice through official MOH channels,” the statement said.
