KAJANG, May 27– Police have confirmed that the widow of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, Toh Puan Na’imah Khalid, and her two sons are currently overseas.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said police had been trying to contact Na’imah since investigations into allegations of a plot to topple the government began earlier this year.
Checks found that Na’imah and her two sons, Muhammed Amir Zainuddin and Muhammed Amin Zainuddin, had been out of the country since the investigation started, he said.
Kumar said police had completed recording statements from 17 individuals to assist investigations into the case, which is being probed under Section 124B of the Penal Code.
“The investigation paper has been referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers and we are now awaiting further feedback and instructions,” he told a press conference.
Media reports previously alleged that Na’imah was linked to a plot to topple the government involving international media agencies and influential individuals, but she has denied the claims.
Na’imah reportedly said the police report was lodged by a disgruntled former employee after being dismissed from her team.
Last month, the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court issued warrants of arrest against Amir and Amin after they failed to appear at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters to give statements.
