Sabah FC Signs Two Argentine Players For 2026/2027 Season

KOTA KINABALU, July 24 —  Sabah FC has signed two experienced Argentine players to strengthen its squad for the 2026/2027 Super League season.

In a statement today, Sabah FC said striker Gonzalo Ignacio Di Renzo, 30, popularly known as Gonza, and goalkeeper Juan Flere Pizzuti, 28, have each signed one-season contracts with the Rhinos squad.

“Gonza brings vast experience from his career journey across several countries, having also recorded more than 200 appearances in various competitive tournaments, to strengthen the Rhinos squad’s attacking force,” the statement said.

Gonza, who was born in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, said in the same statement that his decision to join Sabah FC from Spanish club CF Talavera de la Reina was driven by the club’s strong confidence in him.

“I believe this is an ambitious project. I want to take on a new challenge and experience football in Asia first-hand,” he said.

Pizzuti, who hails from San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, joined the Rhinos squad after playing for Spanish club CE Europa, as he begins a new chapter in his career.

Pizzuti described the opportunity to join Sabah FC as an exciting challenge, while expressing his enthusiasm for the chance to live in Malaysia and learn more about the local culture.

The goalkeeper has amassed more than 100 competitive appearances in Spanish football, including in the Primera Federación, Segunda Federación, Segunda División B, Copa del Rey and La Liga 2.

Sabah FC had earlier signed three import players, namely Spanish defender Kike Lopez, 32, South Korean midfielder Park Jungbin, 32, and Philippines international midfielder Oskari Kekkonen, 27.

Sabah FC, under the guidance of former national Under-23 head coach Juan Torres Garrido, will begin their Super League campaign this season against STAR City FC (formerly Immigration FC) at Likas Stadium here on Aug 23.

Last season, Sabah FC finished ninth in the league with 23 points.
