KUALA PILAH, Sept 19 — Negeri Sembilan police have tightened security controls across the state to maintain public order and ensure the safety of the people amid the current situation.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said police were closely monitoring developments and keeping abreast of the situation.
“Our priority is to maintain public order and ensure everyone’s safety. When such incidents occur, we closely monitor the situation and tighten security controls across all areas.
“I urge the public to remain patient and hope that the matter will be resolved in accordance with Malaysian law and established legal processes,” he said when met by reporters at Masjid Diraja Tuanku Munawir here today.
Earlier, he performed Friday prayers with the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, and more than 500 congregants, including state secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim, at the mosque.
After Friday prayers, Tuanku Muhriz received a memorandum expressing loyalty and support for him from the head of the Secretariat for Loyalty and Support for the 11th Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Dr Mohd Aluwi Sari.
Yesterday, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) said that the April 19 proclamation concerning the position of Tuanku Muhriz was invalid as it failed to comply with the mandatory requirements of Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan (UUTKNS) 1959.
The AGC also said the Menteri Besar and Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council did not have unilateral authority to depose the Yang Dipertuan Besar or declare the position vacant.
Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) yesterday reiterated that Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku remains the lawful Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and chairman of the council.
