KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — National men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai finished as runners-up at the Taiwan Open 2026 after a hard-fought final, today.
The fifth-seeded Malaysian duo lost in straight sets to Indonesia’s eighth seeds, Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin with scores of 21-23, 19-21.
In a match that lasted 42 minutes, a neck-and-neck battle in the opening set saw the Indonesians clinch it in deuce and while Chia-Tai continued to apply pressure in the second, their opponents held firm to secure the victory.
This tournament marks the first final for the Malaysian duo since they were first paired together just last month.
“I think we have done our best today and congrats to the winner. They played really well today and during the crucial time, they gave us a lot of pressure,” Chia said in a voice recording shared by Badminton World Federation.
He also said the pair have made really good progress in only their second tournament together with another tournament coming up, the Korea Masters 2026 (Aug 4–9), and they are looking forward to seeing what they can achieve.
