KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Retirement Fund Inc, better known as Kumpulan Wang Persaraan Diperbadankan (KWAP), has emerged as a substantial shareholder in Aeon Co (M) Bhd after acquiring more than 1.56 million shares in the company.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing today, the operator of the Japanese supermarket chain in Malaysia said that KWAP acquired a total of 1,567,200 shares on May 20, 2026.
Following the transaction, KWAP holds 43.23 million shares, or a 3.08 per cent direct stake, and 27.87 million shares, or a 1.99 per cent indirect stake, in Aeon Co.
At Friday’s close, Aeon Co shares eased one sen to RM1.14 with 2.8 million shares traded.
