Malaysia Fair Showcases Nation’s Best in Healthcare, Tourism, Education; Siti Nurhaliza Adds Glitter

JAKARTA, June 6 — Malaysia Fair 2026, a one-stop showcase of Malaysia’s healthcare, tourism, education, and cultural attractions, is now underway in Jakarta, as the country intensifies efforts to attract more Indonesian visitors.

The four-day event opened on Friday at Gandaria City Mall and is jointly organised by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and Tourism Malaysia, in support of the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 (MYMT 2026) and Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaigns.

Malaysian music icon and MHTC brand ambassador Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin added star power to the opening ceremony, captivating visitors with several of her popular hit songs.

The opening ceremony also featured cultural dance performances and a teh tarik demonstration by Malaysia’s “Teh Tarik King,” adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.

In his remarks, Tourism Malaysia Director-General Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim said Indonesia remained one of Malaysia’s most important tourism markets, with more than 4.3 million visitor arrivals recorded from the country in 2025.

“This is a very proud achievement for us and is an undeniable proof of the closeness between the people of both countries,” he said.

Also present were Chargé d’Affaires of the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta Farzamie Sarkawi, MHTC Chief Executive Officer Suriaghandi Suppiah, and Tourism Malaysia Jakarta director Hairi Mohd Yakzan.

Mohd Amirul Rizal said the growing travel demand between the two countries has been supported by strong air connectivity, with more than 610 direct flights operating weekly offering over 110,000 seats.

“From Jakarta alone, there are 224 direct flights every week connecting Indonesia with various key destinations in Malaysia such as Kuala Lumpur, Subang, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching, dan Kota Kinabalu,” he said.

He added that a new direct route linking Jakarta and Kota Bharu in Kelantan would commence on June 16.

Suriaghandi said Malaysia Fair 2026 reflected MHTC’s commitment to strengthening the presence of the Malaysian healthcare sector in Indonesia, its most important market.

He said Jakarta remained a key gateway to Indonesians seeking first-rate, reliable, and timely healthcare services in Malaysia.

“Malaysia offers not just international standard treatments, but also care services that are warm, comfortable, and all-encompassing,” he said.

According to MHTC, Indonesia remained Malaysia healthcare’s largest source market in 2025, generating about RM2.2 billion in healthcare travel revenue, up 23 per cent from the previous year.

More than 970,000 Indonesians travelled to Malaysia for medical treatments, contributing nearly 66 per cent of the industry’s total healthcare travel revenue.

As part of the promotional programme, Tourism Malaysia is organising Flavours of Malaysia 2026 from June 5 to 15, featuring Malaysian favourites such as Penang prawn mee, char kuey teow, and satay to showcase the country’s diverse culinary heritage.

The fair brings together more than 20 Malaysian healthcare providers, including Island Hospital Penang, Institut Jantung Negara, Mahkota Medical Centre, Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Sunway Medical Centre, Alpha IVF, and OasisEye Specialists.

The event also features seven travel agencies offering travel packages to Malaysia, namely Dwidaya Tour, TX Travel, Habibi Tours, Baltic Golf & Travel Specialist, A&L Holidays, AWB Cruise, and Golden Rama Tours & Travel. Malaysia Airlines serves as the official airline partner.

Visitors can also explore study opportunities through consultations with five Malaysian higher education institutions, namely Taylor’s University, UCSI University, INTI International University, Todak Academy, and MILA University.

Malaysia Fair 2026 is supported by several industry partners, including Bank Central Asia (BCA), Econolab, JavaMifi, Batik Air, and TransNusa. The event runs until June 7.
