HYDERABAD, Aug 31- Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu lauded the age-old bonds of friendship with Malaysia in his National Day greetings to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Monday.
In his letter to Sultan Ibrahim, Muizzu noted that the two countries have enjoyed warm and enduring relations over the past five decades, founded on strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation, and affirmed his commitment to further advancing bilateral ties and cooperation, according to a presidency statement.
In a separate letter to Anwar, Muizzu observed that brotherly relations between the two countries have strengthened through regular high-level engagements and strong people-to-people exchanges.
“The President voiced confidence that this friendship would continue to thrive, paving the way for expanded economic engagement and greater opportunities for both peoples,” the statement said.
Pakistan and India also greeted Malaysia on the joyous occasion through social media.
“Pakistan extends its heartiest congratulations to the Government and brotherly people of Malaysia. We wish them enduring peace and lasting prosperity,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on X.
India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar wished his Malaysian counterpart, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, as well as the government and people of Malaysia.
“Look forward to advancing our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” he posted on X.
