Kuala Lumpur, Aug 24– Malaysia’s Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik fell short of a second world title after losing to China’s Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang 17-21, 16-21 in the World Championships final in New Delhi yesterday.
The 2022 Tokyo champions were outclassed by the world No. 3 Chinese pair, who claimed their first world title with the straight-set victory.
The defeat extends China’s dominance in the head-to-head record, now standing at 11 wins in 15 meetings. Liang-Wang have now beaten the Malaysians twice this year alone, having previously prevailed at the Thomas Cup Finals in April and the Singapore Open quarter-finals in June.
Despite the loss, Aaron-Wooi Yik emerged as Malaysia’s best performers of the tournament.
