Anwar Holds Phone Call With Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today held a telephone conversation with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said he once again congratulated Vijay on the significant responsibility he was undertaking in serving the people of Tamil Nadu.

“I also informed him that I will be going to India this September to attend the BRICS Summit, as well as to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and if time permits, I may make a short visit to Tamil Nadu,” he said.

Anwar also prayed that Vijay would continue to be granted strength and wisdom to lead and administer effectively for the well-being of the people and the future of Tamil Nadu.

On May 12, Anwar was reported to have extended congratulations to his friend, who is also a South Indian film icon, on his appointment as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, while expressing interest in fostering closer cooperation with the leader in the future.

Vijay, 52, who transitioned from a prolific acting career to full-time politics, leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, which secured a huge victory in the state legislative assembly elections.
