KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 — Assistance for M40 households, allocations for the Madani School and Kampung Angkat programmes, and the effectiveness of the Tourism Compliance Focus Zone (ZTPP) programme are among the issues set to be raised at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s website, Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan (BN-Kuala Pilah) will ask the finance minister to explain measures to assist M40 households that are no longer eligible for targeted aid but continue to struggle with rising living costs.
He will also seek clarification on whether a mechanism is in place to reassess eligibility based on households’ current income and expenditure.
Datuk Dr Richard Rapu @ Aman anak Begri (GPS-Betong) will ask the finance minister to provide a detailed breakdown of the RM50 million and RM200 million spent on the Madani School and Kampung Angkat programmes.
The question aims to ensure transparency over the financial impact of the programmes and the actual number of beneficiaries under the People’s Housing Programme (PPR).
Meanwhile, Hassan Saad (PN-Baling) will ask the domestic trade and cost of living minister to outline the performance indicators used to assess the ZTPP programme’s effectiveness in reducing complaints about excessive pricing.
Also on the agenda is a question from Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) on the progress made in implementing the National Women’s Policy 2025-2030.
Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen (PH-Bandar Kuching) will ask the communications minister whether the ministry plans to extend social media age restrictions to online gaming platforms, particularly those with large numbers of children and teenage users.
Following the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat is scheduled to resume debate on the Supply Bill 2027 at the policy stage, following the tabling of Budget 2027 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, on October 9.
According to the parliamentary calendar for the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, the policy-stage debate on Budget 2027 runs from October 12 to 22.
This will be followed by four days of winding-up sessions by the relevant ministers, beginning October 26.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting will run for 37 days until December 8.
