GEORGE TOWN, July 11 – Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil was conferred the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri (Dato’ Seri), in conjunction with the 85th birthday celebration of Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib today.
Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson, heads the list of 230 recipients to be honoured at the 2026 Investiture Ceremony for Penang State Orders, Decorations and Medals at Dewan Sri Pinang here beginning today, becoming the sole recipient of the DPPN this year.
In addition to Fahmi, 19 individuals were conferred the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN), which also carries the title “Datuk Seri”, including MARA Incorporated Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Mohammad and Invest Penang chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian.
Meanwhile, nine individuals received the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPN), while another 72 were conferred the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), which carry the title “Datuk”.
Former Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail received the DMPN, while DSPN recipients included renowned film actor, director and scriptwriter of Cathay-Keris Film Productions, the late Nordin Ahmad (posthumous), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) director-general Meor Ismail Meor Akim, and Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak.
Earlier, Tun Ramli and his wife, Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, arrived at 8.45 am to officiate the investiture ceremony.
The Penang State Investiture Ceremony, to be held over four days beginning today and continuing on July 13, 14 and 15, will see 101 individuals receive state honours, while another 1,120 will be awarded medals and honorary decorations.
