Singapore Advises Citizens to Defer All Travel to Saudi Arabia Amid Security Risks

SINGAPORE, Oct 14 — The Singapore government has advised its citizens to defer all travel to Saudi Arabia following heightened security risks in the region, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

In a travel advisory posted on Tuesday, the MFA said Saudi Arabia has experienced an increase in missile and drone attacks targeting civilian aviation including Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) and energy infrastructure.

“Singaporeans already in Saudi Arabia should avoid travelling to KKIA and other high-risk areas until further notice, as well as refrain from non-essential travel within the Kingdom.

“They should continue to monitor local news closely and follow the instructions of local authorities,” it said.

MFA also cautioned SIngaporeans who need to travel to Saudi Arabia or are currently in West Asia to be prepared for travel disruptions at short notice.

“They are strongly encouraged to eRegister with the MFA at https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/ so we can contact them when the need arises.

“Those who require consular assistance may contact the Singapore Embassy in Riyadh, the Singapore Consulate-General in Jeddah, or the MFA Duty Office,” it added.
