KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — The China Jiangsu Service Trade Expo (Malaysia) 2026 officially opened today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, bringing together enterprises and institutions from China and Malaysia to strengthen cooperation in service trade, digital economy and cultural exchange.
Deputy Minister of Communications, Teo Nie Ching, said China has remained Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years, while the Expo has effectively showcased Jiangsu’s strengths in digital trade, traditional Chinese medicine and cultural creativity.
She also expressed hopes for deeper cooperation in the creative industry and film sector, noting that Film in Malaysia Incentive (FIMI) offers up to 30 per cent cash rebate for international productions filming in the country.
Deputy Director-General of the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province, Jiang Xin, said Malaysia has become one of Jiangsu’s key partners under the Belt and Road Initiative. He noted that the Expo has been held in Malaysia for four consecutive years, serving as an important platform to promote business matching and trade cooperation between both sides.
Minister Counsellor Sun Shuqiang from the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia congratulated the organisers and highlighted the growing achievements in China-Malaysia goods and services trade. He said the Expo reflects efforts to implement the China-Malaysia cooperation memorandum on service trade and the Suzhou Declaration released during the recent APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting.
This year’s Expo features an upgraded format with multiple themed exhibition zones covering digital services, Jiangsu cultural specialties, legal services, intellectual property, international education, traditional Chinese medicine, gastronomy and tourism, as well as international business services, further highlighting Jiangsu’s strengths in service trade and cultural exchange.
