SHAH ALAM, June 29 — Malaysians can now transfer their BUDI Diesel subsidy eligibility to an immediate family member who uses the registered diesel vehicle.
Under the new arrangement, BUDI Diesel eligibility may be transferred to an immediate family member without changing the vehicle’s ownership.
The Finance Ministry said the new feature allows eligible recipients to transfer their BUDI Diesel entitlement to a spouse, parent, child or sibling, provided the recipient also qualifies for the BUDI95 programme.
For example, a father who is eligible for both BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel may transfer his BUDI Diesel eligibility to his child, who qualifies for BUDI95.
The father will continue receiving BUDI95 benefits, while the child will receive both BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel eligibility.
Any additional 100-litre diesel quota, where applicable, will also be transferred.
The ministry said the initiative is intended to ensure diesel subsidies reach the actual vehicle user while making the application process more convenient.
It added that each vehicle owner is allowed to make only one eligibility transfer application.
Once approved, the transfer is final and cannot be reversed.
Applications can be submitted through the Budi Madani portal by selecting the BUDI Diesel Eligibility Transfer Application menu.
For the first phase, applications must be submitted by July 12, while applicants can check their eligibility status from July 15.
On June 27, the government introduced the MyKad-based BUDI Diesel programme, allowing eligible recipients to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre.
Yesterday, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the Budi Madani portal had received more than 18,000 applications for the additional 100 litres of subsidised diesel. – Media Selangor
