KOTA KINABALU, Sept 27 — The Sabah government today launched the Young Entrepreneurs Success Scheme (Syabas) portal to drive economic development and empower Sabah’s youths.

The new initiative, mooted under Budget 2022 with an allocation of RM10 million, was launched by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at Menara Kinabalu, here.

According to a statement from the Sabah Chief Minister’s Office, this initiative introduced by Hajiji was to fulfil the state youths’ aspiration of expanding their businesses or starting a new one.

“The programme is aimed at local youths aged between 18 and 40 years. The fund is overseen by the State Youth and Sports Ministry in collaboration with the Institute for Government and People’s Cooperation (IKRAR),” it said.

The statement added that the objectives included helping young entrepreneurs who lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic start a business and to assist the existing ones in enhancing their products and expanding their business operations.

The scheme also serves as a platform to help young entrepreneurs build an international network through export and import businesses and to further expand their businesses.

Young people who wish  to know more about Syabas and how to apply for the scheme, can visit the website at https://syabas.gov.my.
