KUALA LUMPUR , April 16 – Malaysia and China must deepen strategic cooperation to ensure long-term development plans translate into meaningful opportunities for the next generation, said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol.
Speaking at an appreciation dinner hosted by pro-Belt and Road associations, he noted that the world is undergoing profound change due to economic uncertainty, rapid technological shifts, and geopolitical realignments. He said Malaysia’s 13th Plan (13MP) reflects strong commitments to economic transformation, digitalisation, sustainable development, and inclusive growth.
“The future does not simply arrive. It is shaped by those who prepare and act,” Mordi said, stressing the need for Malaysia to remain open, adaptive, and forward-looking.
Chinese Embassy Minister Zheng Xuefang said China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan would offer a new blueprint for high-quality development and deeper international cooperation. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to multilateralism and global economic stability.
Zheng urged stronger Malaysia-China cooperation in digital, tourism, green, and blue economies, alongside major Belt and Road projects such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and the second 5G network. He also called on media friends to continue telling the story of bilateral cooperation.
PPMC President Datuk Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan described both countries’ strategic frameworks as bold commitments to shared prosperity and global influence. He encouraged Malaysian entrepreneurs to seize opportunities from China’s expanding market access, RCEP, and platforms like the China International Import Expo in Shanghai.
